The End of Spring, Graduation, and many other things

So, it has been months since I have posted anything and i feel bad that i haven't done this. Beware: there will be many pictures.

A Streetcar Named Desire went really well and I had an amazing time doing the show and made some really good friends.

After Streetcar, we started wrapping up the semester. This semester I made a 2.9 GPA and was really proud of myself since i have struggled in the past. One of my favorite classes was makeup...

I also learned how to do blood and gore makeup as well as corrective and fantasy creature makeup. I hope to have my full makeup morgue book of photos up on facebook soon!

Right before finals week, we had the department picnic where the entire theatre department gets together and hangs out, plays football, senior Alpha Psi Omega members get their chords and the seniors will things away to the rest of the undergrads.

All in all, a very fun/ emotional day for everyone.

Then came graduation. Nathan and Brandi and Jillian all graduated.

I am really gonna miss them. I move into my first apartment in July with my friend Matt, who, like me, is an avid Atlanta Braves fan (which makes sense seeing that he is from Atlanta!). I am working at Sonic (Lord help me!) this summer as a skating carhop so i get to skate for 7 hours a day every day that i am at work. The people in Hattiesburg also apparently have never heard of tipping before either so I am making do with what i get.

I am excited about starting my last semester in college in the fall. I will be taking Acting Styles II, Talent Management, Stagecraft and Stagecraft Lab, and the Philosophy of Love and Sexuality. I am ready to be done with college and start looking for graduate schools to get my MFA in Performance. Hopefully, by this time next year, i will be living in New Orleans!

Anyway, That is how my life is going right now and hopefully i will have more to update you all on soon!

Tired, But Happy

So, Streetcar is finally over. My uncle kenny and my aunt christine came to see it... ...as did my parents and grandparents. I really was so happy that they gotto come see me in my first mainstage production at the University of Southern Mississippi. I have not blogged on here since the beginning of the rehearsal process in January. I am so tired i don't know how i am seeing straight. But i made it through two weeks of performance and a week before that of tech rehearsals. I am now focusing on graduating in December and finding a job in Hattie for the summer. Its safe tosay that i am tired but happy.

When I Leave, People Lose Their Minds

well, a big bru-ha-ha happened after i left for home on Thursday. all my friends got into a huge fight and now, jake and jillian are trying to bad mouth liz and brandi to me so i will take their side. I am not okay with that. It is never okay to be manipulative unless you are a CIA interogator. I think the only sane one of my friends right now is Nathan, and he is most likely to lose a limb by the time he turns 40 because he loves to play with explosives. Its all turned upside down right? Liz is livid that i got my feelings hurt because of what jake and jillian said. So, what have i decided to do? I have decided to have dinner with my brother tonight and to stay away from the whole situation. Next weekend, hopefully, Liz, Brandi, and I will be going to Pickwick to have a girls weekend. Maybe then things will have calmed down a bit. Its uncanny how everyone loses their minds when i leave. Maybe i am the glue that holds us together without making everyone want to kill each other. I don't know. I am glad that i have Brandi and Liz and Nathan as my really close friends. Better to have a few close friends than none at all.

The End of a Long Semester

I took my last final today. It was a doozy and it didn't go very well at all. I am glad that i won't have to take any more theatre history classes for the rest of my life!! There is so much information packed into 4 tests during a semester. The class doesn't even have a comprehensive final exam because there is too much information to put into one test. That one test would take 4 hours to complete! Other than that, i have turned in all my papers and things and hopefully will be leaving tomorrow after i get checked out of my sorority house for the break. On Friday, my two best friends and I are going to Pickwick to have a little girls weekend to wind down after all of our finals are over. I can't worry about what things are looking like coming out of this semester and i won't. It is in the hands of the faculty now. Next semester, I am taking Intermediate Acting II, Stage Combat, Period Acting Styles I, Ballet I, and Intermediate Makeup. I will also get credit hours for acting in the mainstage production of A Streetcar Named Desire. I am very excited about the semester ahead. I will be learning a lot about how to act in classical pieces, get some Suzuki training under my belt, build a makeup portfolio (a Makeup Morgue as we call it), and get experience acting onstage here at Southern Miss for the first time. My sorority sisters are all excited for me and are going to come and see me perform in March! I love all of them. I hope to be posting more frequently seeing as i have a good long Christmas Break ahead of me. Finally, able to relax a bit!

I got cast!!

So, I have been cast as Woman #2 in A Streetcar Named Desire! I know it is a small role, but i am glad that i can now say that i have been cast in a mainstage production at the University of Southern Mississippi. Now, I have my script and i am ready for my turn on the stage.

Christmas Presents and Callbacks

I am currently very excited about two things. First off, i got a Christmas present from my friend Brandi the other day during auditions. She got me a vintage figurine of Elvis Presley in his all-black leather suit from the '68 Comeback Special. It basically is this picture in three dimensional form.
I love it!! Another thing Iam excited about is that I got two callbacks for the auditions i went to at my school. One for Smokey Joe's Cafe, which is a musical, and one for A Streetcar Named Desire.
My callback for A Streetcar Named Desire was for the leading role of Blanche. I am so excited!! Cast lists won't go up until tomorrow, so until then i am waiting impatiently for the results. I hope that i get cast in any capacity in these shows as the casting this next semester is extremely limited.
I do love my school and the shows that we do, but i am really disappointed, as is much of the department, in the way that people are cast. The directors definately have their favorites, and it is really hard for anyone, especially the transfer students, to get cast. I am a transfer student of course, and therefore, don't get some of the same opportunities that the others do because i only spend two years at this school instead of four years like most of my peers.
In the end, i don't expect to get cast, but it is a thrill to get two callbacks and to know that they are looking at me seriously.

Thanksgiving Break

I had my Bachelor of Arts Evaluation today and I feel like it went very well. My professors were very nice and said that they had seen my improvement and also gave me tips on how to get my foot in the door with people in new Orleans before i graduate and head down that way to start my life. My mom is definately feeling the empty nest syndrome. she calls me all the time and just wants to chat. It wouldn't bother me except that shealways calls when i am extreamly busy. I hate that it happens that way. I love talking to my mom. She called today and told me that we would cook spaghetti on Friday. I also hope to get together with my good friend Jamison and have dinner with him and nathan while me and nathan are home. Jamison has anew girlfriend that we have to meet! Hopefully, Nathan and me will get to go see Harry Potter while we are at home too! I think this Thanksgiving Break is going to be a good one!

My Friends

since thanksgiving is just around the corner, i have decided to give thanks for all of the wonderful people in my life. My last post was about my wonderful family, sothis post will be about my amazing friends who stand beside me no matter what. First off, we have Brandi.

Brandi and i went to community college together, but we really didn't become best friends until this past year. She is crazy and i love her like a sister! She is the ginger of the group. She is the one that is goofy and fun loving.

Next, I have Liz.

Liz is the Dr. Phil of the group. She always has a bit of wisdom for all of us. She is also crazy as a loon! I love her like a sister too! She is the one of the group that will kick ass if needed. She abhors anything that is normal and prefers to go against the grain in every possible way. i love that about her! Brandi and her and me are the three musketeers.

Then there is Nathan.

I have known nathan since community college as well. He is the hillbilly friend that i have. he knows how to build a bomb, blows things up on a regular basis, loves guns and hunting, and is a theatre tech guy. he helped me through Daniel and mine's breakup and we have gotten really close over the past year. If anyone ever does anything to hurt me, all i have to do is find Nathan and he will take care of it...lol

next is Jillian...

So, Jillian is the craziest of my friends. I love her dearly. She has the best Halloween parties and we frequently have drunken nights of fun at her place. (Well, the rest of the gang gets drunk...I don't like to throw down like they do that often...) Ilove her crazy stories from working at Taco Bell until 4am and watching her run 3 blocks with high heels on and a drink in hand...lol

and finally, there is Jake...

he is from briton, england. When he gets drunk, his british accent comes out in full force. He has great stories of England and of drunken nights while he was out of school. He also makes up stories about his friends and random crazy things...justask him about Brandi andthe deer...lol

and there you have it...those are my closest friends...and i love them all!

My Family

So, my parents came down to visit yesterday and saw Moliere's The Learned Ladies. While they were here, I thought about all the things that they do for me and have done for me in the past. They always support me. I am a theatre major in college, and as we all know, this particular career path doesn't offer a whole lot of stability and consistantcy when you think about it. An actor usually has a day job and must work extremely hard to become successful in our field. Iremember when ifirst started college, everyone was asking me what my backup plan was...except my parents. I'm sure they are worried about what i will do to support myself, but they have faith in me, even when i don't have a lot of faith in myself. I love my family and i know that God has blessed me with a wonderful, loving mother and father who want nothing but the best for me and for all of my dreams to come true.

My extended family is equally wonderful. My grandparents are supportive and try to come see me in everything i do.

I also have wonderful uncles and aunts and cousins that love me and want the best for me too!

There are many more people in my family than in these pictures, but i love them all and, believe me, they are all as good looking as the people above!

I guess what im saying is that, even though i am almost 22 years old, i still miss my family and i love them like no one else on earth.

Learned Ladies and the End of the Semester

so, the last show of the semester is now running and it is great!! Im really proud of everyone involved. I, however, am very tired and worn out. I have been going non-stop all semester and i am ready for a break. i think it would be great if i had a twin that could go to class for me for a couple of days so that i can catch up on sleep and my sanity. anyway, i have only enough time to write that. i have to go back to the theatre to work now! yay! haha...

A Cold Cold Blogger

So, winter has finally arrived here in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and i have no winter clothes here worth wearing. The result? im freezing. So, im just cold. On the other hand, i am dating Nathan. We are just dating right now. For our first date, we went to the movies and saw "Red" starring Bruce Willis. It was great. We also walked around the mall for an hour while he jokedthat i should pushhim around in the little strollers shaped like cars and put quarters in the little helicopter machine that rides up and down. I really like him. We have known each other for almost four years now. We really got close last semester when Daniel and i were having problems right before we broke off our engagement. He helped me through a lot of that because he has been there before. We are currently in tech rehearsals for Moliere's "The Learned Ladies" and he has been working at the theatre from morning until 10pm every day for the last 2 weeks and finally, last night, he got off early enough for me to cook him spaghetti and watch movies at his place until late. It was fantastic. He is a theatre major with me, but he works on the tech side of things much more often than he acts, even though he is good at both. He makes me laugh and he cares about what i think and how i feel. He loves making me laugh a lot! Whether its making a funny joke or tickling me, he loves to make me laugh. We enjoy each others company and we have similar tastes in a lot of things. Im glad that i have found someone that i genuinly like and enjoy being with. He makes me happy.

Good Things and Good Times

So, i have met a new guy. His name is Matthew Judd and we have hit it off really well. He is a graduate student in the theatre department at USM. He is a Braves fan (good), loves theatre (great!), and is a real gentleman (AWESOME!)! We are taking things slow so it may be awhile before there is anymore to report. I am also a proud owner of a new PT Cruiser! This fall break is the best fall break yet!

Learning One Day at a Time

so, i put myself out there for the first time since breaking off my engagement to daniel and i got hurt. Men can definately throw so mixed signals without realizing what they are doing. I really liked this guy and i asked him out and he said he didn't feel that way about me. what is worse is that he is a close friend of mine so that makes things just a little awkward. Luckily, he is a gentleman about it and is not letting it make things awkward between us. So, i am learning again how to play the dating game and hopefully, i won't get hurt too badly this time around.

Recruitment

so, fall recruitment is coming up this week and i am really excited about it!! I have spent a lot of time with my sisters this weekend and i can iron a mean tablecloth to a tee. I am so excited to be going through recruitment on this side of the system and i can't wait to meet all of the new beautiful sisters that we will recruit this coming weekend!!

Back in the Burg...Feels Like Home

I moved back to Hattiesburg today and I love it. I am back with all of my sisters and some friends from home that i have missed over the past week. I moved back and some of my guy friends helped memove back into the house...of course they were both psyched to see the sorority house even though they didn't get to see many of my sisters like they were hoping...haha. I am so ready for this semester to be a great one and can't wait for it to begin!!

Back to School

I am packed and ready to head back to my loving sorority family at Southern Miss for my senior year!!! I have had a wonderful couple of weeks. My friend Jamison moved back to town and i got to hang out with him and some other friends for kareoke nights and a going away party for my friend Nathan. Nathan and Jon have gotten an apartment in Hattiesburg for this year so that is probably where i will spend some of my time. Nathan has agreed to be my date for the date parties this semester and I can't wait to get back and make the most of my senior year in college. I know that this will be the best year of my life by far and i intend to make sure i make the most of it!

Loving Life the Way It Is

So, i have come to the conclusion that i am a person who has always desparately grasped for a bit of control in different aspects of my life. Whether it be in my acting, my love life, or anything else, i have always wanted that sense of control over something. I was cleaning out my room the other day and found a saying that i had written down long ago. It says, "God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change; Courage to change the things i can; and the wisdom to know the difference." Well, i have not used the wisdom to tell the difference in a long time and it has caused me undue stress in my life. Now that i am looking at my senior year of college and wondering where i will end up by this time next year, i have decided to stop sweating the small stuff and to let my heart lead the way. Wherever i am meant to be, i am trusting that God will lead me there. I large weight has been lifted off of my shoulders and, instead of looking at my senior year with fear and uncertainty, i am looking at it with excitement and impatience for it to begin.

My Crazy Life

A lot has happened recently. Since Daniel and I broke off our engagement, guys have been coming out of the woodwork saying that they have been interested and/or they are currently interested. Its been crazy. I had a wonderful vacation with my family in Florida this past week and then went to Pickwick for the first of many (i hope!) annual Pierce family weekends at the lake. My whole family was there and it was good to be all together at some other time of the year other than Christmas!! I love my family so much and they are such a great support system for me. I dont know what i would do without any of them in my life. I went to Starkville last Thursday and had an amazing visit with my friend Ted! We have been friends for 7 years and it was great to reconnect with him again. I went and spent that weekend with my wonderful sorority sisters for a formal recruitment workshop and stayed with my friend Jamison at his apartment. Soon he will be moving home to Memphis to go to school there and I am excited to have him back!! I will be leaving for Hattiesburg and Southern Miss in mid-august to start my final year of college!! I may have a crazy life, but i wouldn't trade any part of it for the world!

Long Summer of Missing my Friends

So, i am halfway through the summer and i miss my sisters and friends terribly. It is the toughest summer i have had in a long time, but everything that is passing is making me stronger. I have wonderful friends who are missing me too. I am hanging out a lot with my friend Nathan, enjoying the true blood books, and plan on visiting my best friend from high school in Starkville a week from now! Things are starting to look up. I went to Graceland yesterday, got the VIP tour, and got a picture with Elvis and a set of stationary note cards so i can write to people when i go back to school for my senior year in college. I want to try to act and hopefully, i can convince a couple of friends to seize our youth and move to Los Angeles with me after we graduate. There is no time like when we are young to do something like that and take a huge risk. I dont have a family to take care of, so it would be the best time to move out there and go for it. I am excited about this new chapter in my life. I feel ready to do my best, to step up and really reach for my impossible dreams. Hopefully, i can be successful with my craft, not neccessarily rich and famous, but able to make a living with what i am passionate about. I will start updating more often, but for now, adios!

Many Changes Bring New Enlightenment

So, my cousin Jenny told me that i need to update more, which is the truth, so here we go. Daniel and I have broken up as of June 1, 2010. We are both going in very different directions and we realized that we could not keep going unless one of us gave up our dreams. It was better to break it off and stay friends rather than give up on a dream and resent each other and break up later on. It may work out that we may romantically involved again one day, but for right now, we are friends and will support each other in our dreams as friends do. I have not been really busy this summer, but instead have been doing a lot of soul searching about where to go from here in pursuit of my dreams. I do want to become a successful actress in the movie industry. My friend Nathan has told me that he is just going along for the ride and taking things as they come. I think that for right now, i am going to take a leaf from Nathans book and take things as they come. I have only myself to lookout for and i am going to do it to the best of my ability. Hopefully, things will all work out for the best.
